There were rumors that Sony might use this occasion to announce a completely new lens, but at the same time many thought about the upcoming Zeiss 55mm f/1.8 FE lens, which will soon hit store shelves around the world.
December 4 is here and the Sony Korea website officially revealed the soon-to-be-shipped Zeiss 55mm f/1.8 FE lens as the mysterious product behind their teaser.
The new prime lens is designed to fit the new Sony A7 and A7R full frame mirrorless cameras and comes with a complex construction of 7 elements in 5 groups with three aspherical glass parts that will minimize distortions.
The lens has an 82.5mm (APS-C format) focal length and will be available in the US starting December 22 at a price of $1000 / €738.
