With all the new hardware coming out, and all the central processors that AMD and Intel have been selling and preparing, makers of other hardware have been hard at work, and Zalman is getting ready to show off one of the latest fruits of its labors.

Although all processors are sold in a bundle with their own coolers, different users prefer different hardware, and this allowed cooling solutions to set up their own market segment very early on.

Zalman is one hardware maker that has a large variety of coolers on sale, each with their respective perks and collection of supported CPUs.

In fact, as it happens, the outfit has been actually working on a certain CPU cooling module for some time now, one that is poised to make its debut soon.

Said product goes by the name of CNPS5X and can serve both Intel chips as well as processors from Advanced Micro Devices.

It is built in such a way as to cope with medium-to-high thermal loads, the likes of which are generated by overclocked dual-core or quad-core CPUs.

It uses Y-shaped aluminum fins, set up in an array that received the heat drawn from the chip itself via three heatpipes made of copper and with a thickness of 8 mm each. The base of the heatsink itself is also made of copper.

Said heat is dispersed by a fan that has a rotary speed of between 1,400 RPM and 2,800 RPM and a diameter of 92 mm.

For those that are specifically interested in the noise generated by the product, it can be of just 20 dBA when at the lowest rotation, and of up to 32 dBA when pushed to the max.

Other specifications include push-pins for Intel sockets and a fixed clip for AMD sockets. These components remove the need to access the back of the motherboard.

All in all, Zalman's cooler measures 127(L) x 62(W) x 134(H) mm, weighs 320 grams and will arrive in stores in December.

The exact chips supported are socket LGA1156 and LGA775 form Intel, plus AMD AM3/AM2+/AM2 and the price will be 26.90 Euro.
