Amidst speculation that a sequel / prequel to the insanely successful “300” is currently in the works, word has gotten out that, before that happens, fans will first get to see the original film in 3D. As per the director, Zack Snyder, work is underway to convert the film to 3D and the first 10 minutes of it look absolutely wonderful, Superhero Hype has learned from Snyder himself.

Snyder is now working on another project, an action movie called “Sucker Punch,” and it represented the purpose of the meeting with the aforementioned movie blogger. Since the hype around “300” has never really died down – not with fans, at least, who’ve been waiting for a sequel or even a similar movie ever since this one ended its run in theaters – the question of what plans he had for the future as regards it inevitably came up. News that the film might get a re-release in the now immensely popular 3D format came as a huge surprise, as one may easily imagine.

“Eventually, we got around to talking about Snyder’s groundbreaking 300, which surprisingly played a large part in Snyder’s recent decision to convert Sucker Punch to 3D. Apparently, Warner Bros. converted a section of Snyder’s breakthrough into 3D to show the director how great the conversion looked, and while talking about it, Snyder confirmed the suggestion that fans of 300 may have a chance to see the full movie re-released in 3D in the near future. ‘I saw maybe like a ten-minute section that they’d just done,’ he told us. ‘I haven’t seen the whole movie but they’re talking about doing the whole movie’,” Superhero Hype writes.

Aside from that, the blogger also learned that Snyder might helm the rumored prequel as well, “Xerxes.” “I’m waiting on Frank (Miller) for the sequel to 300 and there’s a really good chance that will be the thing we do. He’s been working hard, so he’s supposed to show me something really soon; actually in the next few months, he’s going to show me something. There was a big discussion about what we would do for the sequel to 300 and I said, ‘I didn’t tell Frank what to write the first time, and I’m not telling him what to write this time’,” Snyder tells the blogger.

The director then goes on to say that he’ll take whatever Miller writes for a prequel and then adapt it into a screenplay and then “make it into a movie.” Judging by his own words, if Snyder doesn’t direct the second film, then he will most certainly be involved in it in one capacity or another.
