Trekkies need to chill, Zachary Quinto has no plans to part ways with his Spock character in J.J. Abrams’ reboot, even though a quote from him hinting at such a decision has been making the rounds online.

It all started with an EW interview with Quinto to promote “Star Trek Into Darkness,” which comes out in theaters in May 2013.

“It’s like an era of association with certain roles – a specific part like Spock, or a kind of part, like Sylar — is coming to an end,” he said, wherefrom fans understood that he would not be back for a third “Star Trek” movie whenever it would be made.

Because the rumors were totally getting out of hand, Zachary took to his Twitter to deny them.

“simmer down kids. rumors are rumors for a reason. quotes out of context. let’s let the second movie come out before we talk about a third…” he said.

“Star Trek Into Darkness” sees Quinto reprise his role as Spock, while Chris Pine is James T. Kirk. Benedict Cumberbatch will play the villain, though director Abrams has been going to extreme lengths to make sure his identity doesn’t get out before release.

The film will be the first to feature native IMAX footage post-converted to 3D. A prolog for it will premiere on December 14, ahead of “The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey” screenings.
