When you look at Zac Efron, perhaps the last thing that comes to mind is that he’s hiding some terrible dark secret but, according to fresh reports, this is precisely what he’s been doing for the past year or so.

About 5 months ago, the former Disney star, who will be seen next in the JFK drama “Parkland,” went to rehab, People magazine has learned.

The celebrity publication doesn’t say what the problem he sought treatment for was, but sources reveal that Zac is now “doing great” and that “he’s taking care of himself and it shows.”

Other sources tell the tabs that Zac had an alcohol problem but TMZ claims the situation was even more serious because he’d become addicted to cocaine.

He was also in the habit of taking Ecstasy (aka Molly) and everyone close to him knew that he had a problem.

According to the e-zine, things went really bad when Zac was working on “Neighbors” with Seth Rogen, in April this year.

“Sources tell us Zac – who also starred in the movie – was a no-show on a number of days. As one source connected with the film tells us, ‘It was common knowledge he was struggling with cocaine’,” TMZ reports.

“Three other sources confirm Zac's problem was rooted in cocaine, but say he also dabbled in Molly – a pure form of Ecstasy, and a popular drug in clubs and raves,” adds the same media outlet.

TMZ goes on to say that clues about Efron’s heavy drug use are all over the place, if you know where to look. Admittedly, also early this year, Zac and his pals went on “a coke rager” in Las Vegas, which caused $50,000 (€37,458) worth of damage to the hotel room.

He probably paid for that out of his own pocket – and something extra on the side to make sure word of the incident didn’t get out in the press.

Even so, the good news is that he’s now clean and determined to stay this way.
