ZTE’s latest phone is pretty remarkable

We talked a little bit about the ZTE Blade S6 when the handset leaked out showing us a very familiar iPhone-esque figure.

But back then we told you that the handset would arrive in the wild equipped with a 64-bit MediaTek processor with LTE support.

Now that ZTE made the handset official, we can tell you this is not the case and the Chinese smartphone maker employed Qualcomm’s services instead.

ZTE Blade S6 – the first phone with Snapdragon 615 and Android 5.0 to be announced

It turns out that the ZTE Blade S6 offers pretty cool specifications, an Apple-flavored design and the pretty low price tag of $250 / €220.

The Blade S6 arrives with a 5-inch laminated HD display and takes advantage of an octa-core 64-bit Snapdragon 615 chipset fitted with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage (expandable via microSD card).

The Blade S6 is actually one of the first phones to be officially announced running the Snapdragon 615. The Vivo X5 Max is also based on the same platform, but has Android 4.4.4 KitKat onboard, not Lollipop.

In the photography department, the new ZTE has a 13MP snapper on the back, as main shooter, plus a 5MP wide-angle camera up in front. The model is maintained alive by a 2,400 mAh battery and Android 5.0 Lollipop is offered out of the box, so you’ll be off the hook with updates for the time being.

An interesting feature we have to draw your attention to is the so-called Smart Sense system, which allows users to do a bunch of cool stuff. For example, one can turn on the phone with the flick of a wrist.

ZTE Blade S6 will ship internationally

The phone will be made available starting February 10 in Asia, but a wider roll-out is scheduled for February 27 when customers from countries such as UK, France or Germany are invited to place an order for the new flagship.
