Leading telecommunications solutions provider ZTE announced on Monday that it opened the gates of its LTE (Long Time Evolution) testing laboratory at its United States headquarters in Richardson, Texas. According to the company, the new lab is aimed at enabling it to demonstrate and test its own CDMA/LTE platform, which is expected to offer carriers the possibility to deliver LTE services to the US market.

At the same time, ZTE also announced that its platform could offer it the possibility to deliver FTP download rates of around 52Mbps at 10 MHz bandwidth. Moreover, the company also says that the new laboratory and the CDMA/LTE platform should enable it to conduct CDMA voice service and LTE HD (High Definition) video showcases at the same time.

“With our new lab here in the U.S. we are demonstrating our heritage and core understanding of North American carriers and their technology requirements,” said Mr. Jiang Xiangyang, executive president of ZTE North America. “We look forward to helping U.S. carriers deepen their understanding of ZTE's innovative, flexible and cost-effective dual-mode CDMA/LTE platform.”

In addition, ZTE's team of local researchers will work in the lab with wireless carriers in the country to test its CDMA/LTE platform. The lab already includes a series of test features, such as “throughput, latency, coverage, velocity vs. date rate, traffic quality, mobility management and OMM/SON,” the company added.

The CDMA/LTE dual-mode laboratory has at its base the Uni-RAN solution on ZTE unified Software Defined Radio (SDR) platform, and has been equipped with a series of distributed eNodeBs including ZXSDR B8200 (BBU), ZXSDR R8880 (RRU), with a set of ZXUN uMAC (MME), and with sets of ZXUN xGW (SAE-GW), ZXUN USPP (HSS), and NetNumen M31 (OSS), as well as with the latest available commercial software solutions for them.
