Mozilla’s Firefox OS platform is nearing commercial availability around the world, and two handsets powered by it have just made an appearance over at the FCC, namely the ZTE Open and Alcatel OneTouch Fire.

ZTE’s smartphone was approved with WCDMA 850 / 1900 MHz connectivity inside, which makes it fit for the network of AT&T, although it might never arrive on shelves at the wireless carrier.

The phone packs a 3.5-inch HGVA screen, 1GHz Snapdragon CPU, 256MB of RAM, a 3.2MP camera, and a 1200 mAh battery inside. Alcatel OneTouch Fire comes to the market with similar specs, only that it includes a 3MP camera, and a 1400 mAh battery.

As UnwiredView notes, the FCC published the User Manuals for both handsets, although they are planned for release only in countries such as Spain, Venezuela, and Colombia in the beginning, on Telefonica’s network.
