At least one of them should become official next week

Chinese mobile phone maker ZTE has been rumored lately to plan the release of a new flagship Android-based smartphone, in the form of Nubia Z7, and it seems that the device has already started receiving certification around the world.

The mobile phone has been spotted at the Chinese telecoms authority with model number NX505J attached to it, and with a 5.5-inch touchscreen display, which clearly shows that we’re looking at the aforementioned flagship device.

The interesting part of the story, however, is the fact that the handset is accompanied by another phone, namely model Nubia NX507J, which is said to be a smaller flavor of the same device, namely the Nubia Z7 mini.

For those out of the loop, we should note that the ZTE Nubia Z7 is expected to become official as soon as the next week, and that the aforementioned 5.5-inch screen is said to boast a full HD or higher resolution.

Moreover, the mobile phone is said to be powered by a quad-core Snapdragon 805 processor, paired with 3GB of RAM. On the back, it should sport a 16-megapixel camera, most probably capable of recording videos in full HD resolution, if not 4K.

The ZTE NX507J, aka Nubia Z7 mini, should land on shelves with a smaller, 5-inch full HD touchscreen display, while packing a 2GHz quad-core processor.

Moreover, the handset should arrive on the market with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal memory, as well as with a microSD memory card slot for expansion purposes.

On the back, it would feature an 8-megapixel camera, paired with a 5MP front camera, a setup that has started to become quite common among mid-range smartphones these days.

Both mobile phones are expected to run under Android KitKat, though ZTE’s own Nubia UI 2.0 should also be loaded on top of them.

Rumor has it that ZTE will launch Nubia Z7 with a minimal bezel, which would allow it to keep its dimensions low. Basically, this would mean that the two handsets might sport similar dimensions, despite the difference in screen sizes, as GSMInsider notes.

For the time being, however, the only thing that appears to be certain is that ZTE will unveil at least one of them on July 8, as no official confirmation on their hardware specifications has been provided. Of course, it won’t be long before we learn whether the rumors will pan out or not, so keep an eye on this space for additional details.
