Chinese company ZTE Corp, a worldwide leading provider of telecom equipment and network solutions, came to the market recently with a number of four new mobile phones that run under Microsoft's Windows Mobile operating system. According to the news, the four devices are only a part of the total of 10 the company plans to release as a result of its cooperation with Microsoft.

All four new smartphones became available in China with 3G capabilities, although the technology has just entered the country and still has a long road ahead to prove itself. Lin Qiang, general manager of ZTE Smartphone Production Line, also stated that the company planned to sell more than 1 million smartphones before the ongoing year came to an end.

Two of the newly launched mobile phones, the ZTE N61 and ZTE X60, have been designed for China Unicom's airwaves, while the other two, the ZTE X70 and ZTE N72, will go to China Telecom Corp. According to the news, this is the first time when ZTE comes to the market with such a large number of devices at once.

The new handsets come either with QWERTY keyboards or touchscreens, as they are both business and fashion-centric. Their launch seems to be yet another step in ZTE's attempt to become one of the top mobile phone makers in the world. And the same will be the case with the Android phone that DigiTimes says the company intends to launch on the market before the end of the year.

The rumored Android handset should run under the Open Mobile System (OMS) that China Mobile is developing. In addition to this device, is seems that the company also plans on unveiling TD-SCDMA smartphones that will be based on OMS, along with the Windows Mobile-based smartphones that also feature compatibility with the 3G standard. Other OMS-based smartphones should also surface on the market in China, DigiTimes says, coming from companies like Samsung Electronics, LG Electronics (LGE), Motorola and TCL.
