Chinese handset maker ZTE has just introduced a new Android smartphone in Europe, the Grand S Flex. Judging by the phone’s name, one may think it comes with a flexible display, but that’s not the case here.

I guess ZTE’s naming for this mid-range device is just a marketing stunt in the hopes that it will take advantage of LG’s latest G Flex announcement.

Although there are no details on the smartphone’s pricing options, ZTE has confirmed that the Grand S Flex is now available for purchase in Spain, Czech Republic and Slovakia and will be launched shortly in Germany, Finland and Poland.

ZTE Grand S Flex ships with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system out of the box and packs a dual-core processor clocked at 1.2 GHz.

It also features 1GB of RAM and 16GB of internal memory, which can be further expanded up to 32GB via microSD memory card.

The Grand S Flex sports a large 5-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports HD (720 x 1280 pixels) resolution. It is also worth mentioning that the smartphone comes with a decent 5-megapixel rear-facing camera with autofocus, LED flash and video recording, as well as a secondary 1-megapixel front-facing camera for video calls.

Last but not least, ZTE Grand S Flex weighs 130g (battery included) and is powered by 2300 mAh Li-Ion battery, which has yet to be rated by the manufacturer.

“The driving force behind the ZTE Grand S Flex is a combination of modern technology and intuitive handling. Outstanding technology must be met with attractive design to adapt to the needs of our customers.

“The ZTE Grand S Flex provides this and much more with iconic detail consisting of thin and clear lines that make the handset a stylish must-have,” said Mr. AO Wen, general manager of ZTE Handset European Operation Office.
