Remember the good-old days when 64 KB of ROM memory were enough to run any application, and the computer would mean nothing more than a keyboard, a monitor and a huge magnetic tape recorder? If you are one of the
nostalgics who would rather get back their Commodore 64 all-in-one wonder, then you will surely love the ultra-compact PC from Cybernet.

The ZPC-GX31 "All In One PC" is a huge keyboard shell stuffed with everything needed by a computer to do its job. Inside the silver keyboard chassis, the user will find an Intel Core 2 Quad CPU, 4GB of DDR2/667Mhz RAM, Gigabit Ethernet connector and DVI interface, 4 USB ports, Audio Inputs/Outputs, Ethernet Jack, PS/2 inputs, optical drive CDRW-DVD or DVD+/-RW, Intel Graphics Card, a Serial ATA HD, and several fans to spit out the incredible residual heat that gathers in such a small space.

The compact computer is a fully-fledged workstation, except for the fact that it comes without the ATX tower case. It is primarily dedicated at businesses where physical space is a critical aspect. The device can be successfully used in automated teller machines, points-of-sale, education, hospitals, banks, automotive industry and so on.

According to its manufacturers, the new Zero-Footprint desktop PC minimizes the energy requirements up to 50 percent as compared to a desktop computer.

The keyboard can be customized before shipping to the customer. For instance, you can ask the company to rig your keyboard with additional options. The default hardware configuration comes with a default price tag of $699, while the fully-customized version is bundled with a 19-inch LCD display and a pre-installed version of Windows XP for as much as $1099.

The keyboard is available immediately and can be purchased from its manufacturer's webpage.

Perhaps it smacks of Commodore 64 flashbacks, but no matter, this is definitely an update on that concept. Laptop look, full size keyboard, laptop parts but clean and accessible under the hood. No toe-stubbing/knee-knocking tower case with light dimming power supply. And I can use the LCD monitor I already have. Great office machine, even greater as school PC because it is simple enough on the inside to teach PC technology and while having MS Windows, you can boot from USB drive. This means booting Linux without installing it. IT folks will love it and home users will turn it into a cult machine. Price and options aren't too bad either. Keep your laptops folks, I got to get me one of these.........

Arnold, this system uses chiefly desktop parts with a couple peripherals that are "laptop". Maybe its just a hybrid, like other small form-factor systems. Apart from that he is right on, and I for one am determined to get one.
