Yu-Gi-Oh! GX Spirit Caller is a video game developed and published by Japanese company Konami only for the Nintendo DS handheld device, being just one of the many games that are part of the extremely successful Yu-Gi-Oh! franchise, released in its native Japan on November 30, 2006, under the name Yu-Gi-Oh! GX Spirit Summoner, and in North America on January 2, 2007, where it received the regular Spirit Caller subtitle.
The game, as its name suggests, follows the story set up by the famous and popular Yu-Gi-Oh! Japanese anime and manga series, specifically its newer GX iteration, uses the same core mechanics as the rest of the Yu-Gi-Oh! games, consisting of collecting cards with monsters and other creatures imprinted on them, and then using the cards in battles against other players, but also has some new features like character customization or multiplayer modes, which take advantage of some of the unique Nintendo DS features like the touchscreen or the Wi-Fi Connection.
