Last week, we decided to ask you one of the questions that created so much controversy lately regarding one of the most loved operating systems in history: Windows XP.

Should Windows XP be killed?” we asked you and, unsurprisingly, many rushed to express their opinions. In the end, the majority of answers pointed to one cruel conclusion: Windows XP’s time has passed, so it’s time to move on.

While some have admitted that they are emotionally attached to Windows XP, others have explained that Windows XP is no longer secure and lacks important features to cope with today’s tech requirements, which pretty much makes sense given the fact that it was launched in 2001.

We’ve selected some of the answers and included them in this article, so feel free to add your own in the comment box after the jump.

“Just kill windows XP. It is decades old OS which is not relevant anymore in the year 2014. Xp users should move on the newer OS, either windows 7 or windows 8.1 but i suggest windows 8.1 which is way better than windows 7. And don't even think about linux many windows apps doesn't works.” – matfx

“Windows XP is not that bad for average Joe but when it comes about features and technology it is anymore not capable so i find there's no excuse on not giving up on XP as long as most of the users are searching and demanding support and easier access to newer technology.” – John557b

“90% of the world's malware is hosted on XP (mostly pirated copies with no updates). Time is overdue for it to die.” – D34D M34T

“Windows XP has had its time and it's time to move on. Just like previous version of Windows. Before XP, I had Windows 98. To me that Windows XP was one of the best OS I ever use. Fast and it's pretty.” – Windows20

“Yep, let it retire gracefully. The world moves on esp in the sphere of technology.” – waveydavey

“No, I don't run XP. Haven't as of four years ago. XP was stunning for its time, but the world's marched on. Vista's massive changes to drivers and architecture ensured that.” – Austin

“Windows XP had its own time... Now it's old and vulnerable OS.” – Ajey
