FitnessKeeper Inc. has announced an update to its RunKeeper iOS app delivering an all-new night mode to help users track workouts in the dark, as well as in-activity settings and weight-logging tools.

RunKeeper 3.1 lets you enjoy your evening jogs with a new “night mode” theme that’s specifically designed for “dimly lit” environments.

According to the release notes, you can “switch back to day mode and use it like a flashlight if you get scared.” No joke, that’s what the changelog says. You can use night mode in the day too, if you’re the unconventional (yet easily startled) type.

New in-activity settings include the ability to change audio cues, visual themes, auto-pause and screen orientation during your workout, as well as a tweak to avoid accidentally hitting the screen rotation button. The update also includes weight logging and visualization tools.
