Back in the 1950s, public television was just at the beginning, rock 'n' roll started to captivate youths and the Cold War between USA and the Soviet Union was a major political and social issue. What do these facts have to do with mobile phones? Nothing much, apparently.

The 50s are also the years when comic strips were in the glory days, and one of the most loved and appreciated strips until today is Dennis the Menace. It was created by American cartoonist Hank Ketcham and first made available to the public in 1951 through different newspapers. Since then, the five-year-old blond trouble bringer kid became very successful all over the world and his misadventures appeared in television sitcoms, animations, films and video games.

Nowadays, Dennis the Mennace is recognized as a classic comic strip. An interesting fact is that, just a few days after Hank Ketcham first published his creation, another Dennis the Mennace comic strip was born (also known as Dennis the Menace and Gnasher), in the UK, but this one didn't achieve the success that the US Dennis has.

In the attempt to keep up with modern times and attract more readers, Dennis the Menace will be from now on available on mobile phones, so fans (kids or adults) can get the comics, frame by frame, on their handsets. Converted into digital files, strips of up to twelve frames can be sent for a small fee, via MMS, to interested customers. After receiving such an MMS, the cartoon can be seen on your phone as a digital slideshow.

Today, when children's favorite character is probably Harry Potter, the world of Dennis the Menace, with Ruff the dog, Hot Dog the cat or Grampa Johnson, can also be fascinating and the fact that the comic strip is accessible now on mobile phones will surely bring Dennis closer to kids.
