A useful tool for you to scare the bears and the wolves

Not so long ago, we've discussed about the trend which has become to produce Solid State Drives. Many companies, like Intel and SanDisk, have taken into consideration this fact and now produce them. And since it has a great deal of uses, it was just a matter of time before the SSD would be introduced on notebooks. Now Fujitsu is launching a couple of rugged notebooks featuring an SSD.

This type of computer is said not to have any moving parts, and for that matter, it might be true, but this principle doesn't apply to 15.4-inch notebooks or higher. Users normally have the habit of desiring only the best in computer technology; this being said, if you want the best or, better yet, the newest products featuring the latest technology, you will want an SSD instead of your normal hard drive. Now, as I've said, you not only want an SSD, you also want the most powerful processor, the biggest memory and so on.

By doing this you are adding weight, probably some heatpipes, and that's the reason why this type of hard drive, the SSD, is recommended on smaller notebooks; or that's the idea that Fujitsu followed on their new notebooks. They come in two sizes, the 2.2-pound LifeBook P1610 convertible touch screen, and the 3.2-pound LifeBook B6210 touch screen notebooks.

These will have 16 and 32GB SSDs, which add to the durability factor and also feature a low power consumption. The P1610 has an 8.9-inch indoor/outdoor touch screen and has the option of being fitted with an optional 3/4-inch flexible Santoprene case. This case is very sturdy and is recommended for outdoor use.

"On-your-feet workers need to protect their tools without interfering with the product's usability or adding significant cost. By offering SSDs along with rugged cases, Fujitsu provides a superior solution for environments where rough handling of notebooks is inherent in the workplace", said Paul Moore, senior director of mobile product marketing, Fujitsu Computer Systems.
