Expensive diamond headphones. And a lovely model.

Well, in case your wife is an audiophile and she also loves diamonds and she finds out about these headphone set... you're fried! Sorry, but these headphones are a real budget-killer, unless you're very, very serious with your earnings: at $6,400+VAT, the iDiamond Ear earbud headphones aren't by far your common X-Mass gift.

Created by renowned Norwegian Oslo-based jeweller Thomas Heyerdahl, the iDiamond Ear are nothing short of extreme luxury, provided your wife will attend a high-life reception listening to some music, at least for the start.

204 diamonds on the iDiamond Ear by Th. Heyerdahl

The iDiamond Ear is a no-nonsense piece of art blending in technology: no less than 204 diamonds summing up 1.65 carats, covering up these ear pieces for a simply breathtaking appearance. Too bad that the diamond-studded iDiamond iPod made by Mr. Heyerdahl in early 2007 was a on-of-a-kind player... hope and pray he will also issue a new player series to match these highest-end phones.

Unlike the iDiamond iPod, the iDiamond Ear headset will be produced in a limited, numbered 1,000-set edition and will become available in February 2008 in the world's leading jewelry stores.

The headphones are made from 18karat gold and rose gold, with laser-engraved details. The diamonds' color is F (TW), whatever this means, while their clarity is VVS (again, I have no instruction in diamonds). All the stones are set in handcrafted micropavè and sport brilliant cut.

As for the technology-lovers among you, the proper sound technology in the iDiamond Ear has been custom made for Thomas Heyerdahl by Netherlands' Diaro Digital Design.

Now, again, about the announced price; if you feel like collecting fine piece of audio luxury or looking to make a killer impression on your beloved fiancee/wife/girlfriend the iDiamond Ear might be one of the most successful gifts. If you're not prepared for such shopping, pray she does not read the Softpedia Technology News.
