Experts find it hard to believe it is that good

After watching the old number-one video that topped the charts for months, The Evolution of Dance, and sharing it with friends, I find it difficult to believe that the new number one managed to outperform the former occupier of the all-so-wanted position. Cansei De Ser Sexy has managed to gather some 89,750,739 views at the time I'm writing this, but there's no way in hell people can find it so good that it deserves the top spot.

A short comparison between the two videos shows that the former leader has been favored 395,240 times, while Cansei De Der Sexy was found to be inspirational enough by 10,918 people. Truth be told, it's good but it's not that good. It could easily slip in the pool of forgetfulness and nobody would even remember it in a couple of years. However, it did land top position in less than a year from being uploaded, so there should be something behind its ascension.

Andy Baio of Waxy.org did some research into potential anomalies by analyzing the views vs social activity per view ratio. The difference is unfashionably big for a comparison of the two videos mentioned above: The Evolution of Dance and the other 9 previous top ten videos were rated on average once every 590 something views, while Cansei De Ser Sexy, Music is my Hot Hot Sex, was rated once for every 21,487 views. "There's still a possibility that this torrent of traffic is coming from a legitimate external source, but it seems increasingly unlikely. I'm pretty sure it's either a bug or some form of cheating, but I'd love to hear theories," Baio said.

Now, many people are viewing it just to see what the buzz is all about, so the numbers will grow even faster, but in the meantime, with the rating option being disabled for the video (and that's just as of late), the gap between plausible and implausible will grow even wider.
