Google acquired YouTube in October 2006 for $1.6 billion, the search giant aiming to pay off the investment by attracting more users to the service. Since the Google acquisition, YouTube recorded numerous complaints from both users and companies that were all accusing the product for copyright infringement. Although YouTube faced one of the most impressive lawsuits ever filed, Viacom requiring $1 billion in damages, the search giant reported a boosted number of users just after the Viacom removal was officially confirmed.

In the recent period, YouTube was used with a different goal than sharing videos to other members of the community. The Google product was used as the perfect tool for the authorities fighting against criminals and law offenders. After numerous clips were published on YouTube, the police tried to identify suspects and attackers by requiring users' help and contribution. Take the example of a recent case concerning a policeman who decided to post a clip on YouTube to require users' help for identifying the suspect because the video recorded an impressive number of visitors, the case was successful so YouTube is really useful.

However, YouTube was first a video service that allowed users to upload, share and comment movies with other members of the product. This goal is also sustained by the recent statistics presented by Google that sustain YouTube attracts numerous users looking for user-generated content. As you surely know, the company recently organized a new event to honor the homemade videos, offering several awards to numerous categories concerning the user-generated content.

So, it's obvious YouTube tends to evolve and become more than a simple online video sharing service. As Google wanted, YouTube has all the chances to revolutionize the Internet users looking for a powerful way to share their videos.
