YouTube Traffic Soars

Nielsen/NetRatings, a global leader in Internet media and market has released a study conducted on the traffic of the video sharing site YouTube. According to the metrics of the survey that took into consideration only YouTube's
monthly unique audience, the video sharing sites has experienced a 75% growth in the number of visitors in the week from 9 to 16 July. In this context YouTube has attracted an estimated 12.8 million visitors in just one week, which translates in a 5.5 million visitors increase over the prior week.

YouTube is the fastest growing Web brand, and the soar is powered exclusively by unique visitors. Users have a wide conglomerate of video segments to choose from distributed into various categories from the most viewed to the most discussed while being permitted to upload their own video materials.

"Among the top 25 Web brands ranked by unique audience, YouTube was the fastest growing from January to June 2006, increasing 297 percent, from a monthly unique audience of 4.9 million to 19.6 million. The number of Web pages viewed has grown even faster, increasing 515 percent, from 117.6 million in January to 724.0 million in June. The average time spent at the site has increased 64 percent during the same period, from just over 17 minutes to nearly 28 minutes," reads the report from Nielsen/NetRatings.

The study also demonstrates that male users are 20%more likely to visit YouTube than women while the nexus of all visitors are from 12 to 17 years old.
