YouTube is about to release the long-awaited technology meant to fight against the copyrighted content and stop the uploading process of the videos before it is completed. It seems that the upcoming project is even more powerful than we expected because it is based on a revolutionary technology provided by Audible Magic. InformationWeek names it "fingerprinting technology" and sustains that it was tested by the online video sharing service since the beginning of the year.

"We're trying to see if there is a way to make video identification technology a reality. We're going to start testing that on a larger scale in July with some pretty large partners," said Ricardo Reyes, a spokesperson for Google according to the same source. "We pretty cautious on trying to predict when and if we're going to have success with this," he added.

Obviously, the Google official sustained the function is in early beta stages, looking like a simple way to avoid criticism over the inefficacy of the feature. He said this new ability is not a result of the numerous lawsuits filed against the parent company Google because it was prepared since the company acquired the online video sharing service. "This is a tool set that we've tried hard to have ...and this is by no means the end," said Reyes for InformationWeek.

Some time ago, it was rumored that Google prepares an innovative function for YouTube that will be able to fight against the copyright complains launched by so many companies. The Claim Your Content feature was first scheduled for released in December 2006, but the search giant wanted to improve it and postponed the launch date.

Meanwhile, YouTube brought more lawsuits, Viacom suing the search giant for publishing videos without authorization and requiring $1 billion in damages. The announcement was made just after the MTV owner demanded the removal of 100.000 clips from the official page.
