CBS prepares the attack

CBS is just one of the companies that announced their plans to challenge Google's YouTube with a similar service able to offer the same features as the online video sharing solution. Today, CBS prepares to confirm some new deals meant to represent the beginning of the revolution, signing agreements with MSN, AOL and Joost. According to paidContent, CBS will distribute several shows such as NCIS, CSI, The Evening News with Katie Couric and several sport channels. This is not the first CBS move meant to challenge YouTube because the company announced some time ago that a partnership between NBC, Microsoft and News Corp will create a new solution especially built to dethrone Google's product.

"CBS would be the first major network to have such an arrangement with Joost. The agreements cover previously aired full episodes of shows such as NCIS, CSI, The Evening News with Katie Couric and various sports programming. CBS is also in talks to have the NBC Universal-News Corp. online video venture distribute its shows on a nonexclusive basis," the same publication mentioned.

So, it looks like YouTube is attacked from several sides at the same time as more and more companies aim to destroy Google's online video sharing service. Remember GodTube? It is a similar product created to attract Christians but also other types of users looking for video content. Yesterday, Google confirmed a new YouTube channel built for bishops that will probably compete with GodTube for the same category of users.

In the past, YouTube was affected by a powerful hit launched by Viacom, the owner of MTV and Comedy Central. The company demanded YouTube to remove 100.000 clips and required $1 billion in damages, accusing the search giant for copyright infringement. Soon after that, YouTube announced an impressive boost of the number of visitors, sustaining that the product managed to attract them using the homemade clips.
