New service to challenge Google

Jalipo is a recently released online video sharing service that allows users to view clips from an online interface. The product is regarded as the best alternative for YouTube, the company trying to attract the same category of users. Although it offers video content, its developers sustain Jalipo is different from YouTube because it will never provide homemade videos or other user generated clips. According to The New Zealand Herald, Jalipo managed to make partnerships with several media giants also attracted by YouTube such BBC World and Al Jazeera. As far I can see, Jalipo is not so similar with YouTube because the product doesn't allow free access, requiring a registered account to view any type of content published on the page.

"We're hoping to create a much more user-friendly way to buy video content that means you can now monetized your content online while still maintaining your rights. This is absolutely not for user-generated content. If you were looking to put us into the marketplace, I would put us at the other end of the market to YouTube. This is rights-protected, territory-restricted and monetized every minute," chief executive Alex Taylor said.

This is not the first time when YouTube is challenged by other services because the Google product is attacked by a lot of other companies looking to attract users' attention. Take the example of GodTube, a similar service that is meant to bring Christians to the site and provide them almost the same functions as YouTube. Recently, Google introduced a new channel on the video service aiming to lure the same category of users by displaying a Christian content. Some time ago, Microsoft announced a deal with News Corp able to build a new solution that will dethrone YouTube from the leader position of the online video sharing services.
