Several improvements for the video service

The online video sharing service YouTube recently designed several improvements that were already included in the solution. Obviously, one of the updates is represented by the ex-beta feature entitled Active Sharing that was introduced some time ago as a part of the TestTube. As you might know, the function brings a little bit more information about the current viewers of a certain clip, showing their names in a separate menu. Now, Active Sharing displays up to 25 viewers if the feature is enabled from the users' profiles.

"We made a few improvements to this feature: we're now showing up to 25 users in the 'who's watching now' area on each playback page; once Active Sharing is enabled, it will stay turned on until you log out, close your browser, or turn off the feature; and when you click on the username of someone in the 'who's watching now' area you will be taken directly to the part of their channel that shows their most recently watched videos," the YouTube team sustained today.

Along with the Active Sharing improvement, the search giant created a special feature for all the YouTube fans that cannot login to the online video sharing service every day. All you need to do is to register for a feed that will deliver most of the week's videos straight in your email. Also, you're now able to easily browse the sponsors' channel as the company redesigned the page and added two more filters: most viewed and alphabetical.

As you can see, YouTube was improved a lot and this because the search giant might feel the threat of the upcoming rivals. At this time, numerous companies announced their plans to develop YouTube killers able to compete with the Mountain View company and even steal all their visitors. The best example is represented by Sony's eyeVio that was already released and is currently available only to Japanese users.
