It seems that YouTube is very close to unveiling its big media initiative. It's been working with several companies and partners to debut a series of much better produced and better defined 'channels' with shows more akin to TV ones rather than web series.
YouTube is now said to be
revealing its big new push as early as next week.
So far, rumors point to YouTube partnering with skateboarding legend Tony Hawk, but also big production companies like IAC's Electus, News Corp's ShineReveille and so on.
There are a lot of big names already signed up to working with the site, but that's hardly surprising since YouTube is prepared to pay as much as
$100 million, 62.5€ million on advances alone.
It's going to spend several times that to acquire professional content, over time, and production companies are finally starting to take the site seriously.
