YouTube has officially rolled out a feature spotted by some users last week, the "As Seen On" YouTube pages - dedicated pages which list all of the YouTube videos embedded by a blog or site. These pages can give users a great perspective of the type of video content they'd find on a site, as long as it comes from YouTube, and they also provide a useful filter if all you want is videos, with the caveat for publishers that the viewers remain on YouTube rather than visiting the original site.
"Today, with the launch of ‘As Seen On’ YouTube pages, we’re connecting those conversations around the web to deepen the connection to the YouTube videos you’re watching," Kurt Wilms, Product Manager, and Nathan Hunt, Software Engineer at YouTube,
announced.
"By crawling web feeds of sites that have embedded videos, we’ve built dedicated pages that highlight your embedded videos. This means that there is now a place on YouTube to find videos mentioned on your favorite blogs & sites," they explained how the new pages work.
"We think these pages provide a way to find new and interesting content while helping you dive deeper into the conversation around a video," they added.
YouTube now has dedicated pages for pretty much all of the bigger websites and blogs online.
A while back, YouTube introduced an interesting new feature, videos that got a lot of traffic from certain blogs or sites would get an "As Seen On" link to that site.
This meant that users stumbling upon the video would see that a site they're familiar with has shared it, a stamp of approval of sorts, and it also meant that some might visit the link to see the context on the site. The new feature works on the same concept, but now, the links direct to the As Seen On
pages rather to the original site.
