TiVo and YouTube announced today an agreement that allows the broadband-connected subscribers in possession of TiVo Series3(TM) and TiVo HD DVRs to watch their YouTube favorite videos on these supports. For those who were tired of the typical TV programs or simply considered the TV screen a better alternative for the computer's display, this partnership is very appealing.

The same goes for the representatives of the two companies, who are pleased with securing such an achievement for their users. "With YouTube content now available on TiVo, on top of all the movies, music videos, songs and TV shows that are simply unavailable on cable and satellite, TiVo subscribers have more choice on their TV sets than any other TV viewers in the world," said Tom Rogers, President and CEO of TiVo Inc. Users can benefit from both YouTube's vast video database and the possibility of recording and seeing everything they want on the bigger and more comfortable to use screen of the TiVo.

The easy to handle interface makes the TV set suitable for all users' needs. The producers of TiVo say that, soon, users will have the possibility to connect to their YouTube account directly from the TV. Furthermore, the account information, such as friends, favorite videos or playlists will be also manageable from the remote control of the new support. The combo TV set+remote control might be seen as more convenient than the computer+mouse / touchpad. But habits play a great role in people's lives, so probably the first method used for seeing YouTube content will remain the most popular.

"The partnership with TiVo extends our ability to make YouTube accessible anywhere and lets people watch what they want, when they want it," said Hunter Walk, YouTube?s director of product management, underscoring TiVo's most famous principle.
