Google - NLL Deal

Some time ago, YouTube proudly announced that its community of users manages to attract the majority of visitors because they are continuously uploading new clips. I admit the user generated content is the most attractive for YouTube fans and this was proved by the 2006 YouTube User Awards, an event created to honor the most popular videos. However, it seems that the sports clips are also very attractive for most of the YouTubers as they manage to boost the product's number of users. A few days ago, I wrote about the sensational goal scored by Diego, Werder Bremen's player, a video that recorded a huge number of viewers in the first 24 hours.

Because this category improved the YouTube performance, the parent company struggles to offer more sports content and lure users to its page. That's why YouTube signed a new deal with The National Lacrosse League to display highlights, player interviews and behind the scene content, as OurSports Central reported.

"We're excited to develop a relationship with YouTube, the leader in online video, to offer lacrosse fans an interactive means of watching both NLL videos and user created lacrosse videos. With YouTube's vast and growing popularity, we're excited to provide their community of users and lacrosse fans alike, another great way to access NLL action," said National Lacrosse League Commissioner Jim Jennings, according to the same source.

The partnership created a new channel on YouTube, codename NLL that will provide instant access to the clips offered by the deal. As you can see if you visit the page, YouTube's NLL channel is similar to the pages built after the company signed agreements with NBA or Chelsea FC, two deals that were also meant to enhance the sports content published on Google's service.
