In its never-ending quest to expand the audience and the content selection, YouTube has now launched the Politics channel, which you can probably deduce what it's all about.
The idea is to house political campaign ads and clips, news stories, parodies, speeches and anything related to the subject under the same umbrella.
For the moment, it showcases several historical videos as well, as much as something that is on video can be historical.
The channel is mostly focused on American politics, understandable probably, due to the large US audience. Still, YouTube is a global site, so perhaps a "US Politics" would have been a better choice.
That said, the channel looks rather slick and even has a nice chart showing how the different presidential candidates, for the 2012 US elections, are doing in terms of YouTube views.
