The video service is again blocked

Today it was reported that YouTube, the online video sharing owned by Google was again available in Turkey after the court ordered the largest ISP of the country to remove the ban imposed two days ago. Now, it seems like YouTube was banned in Thailand because numerous users reported they're unable to access the video service owned by Google. Although the company didn't confirm the issue, Global Voices Online posted an article containing several users' reports that sustain YouTube was banned but no reason was offered. Every user that tries to connect to the video service is now redirected to MICT (the Ministry of Communication and Technology), an organization responsible for the online content.

"When attempting to reach the YouTube site from within Thailand, the user is redirected to MICT. MICT is the government agency responsible for censoring the internet in Thailand. The reasons and criteria for blocking are usually not made public. In the past, if the resulting controversy over a certain blocking is too great, the blocked site comes back online and the government denies it was ever blocked at all," Global Voices Online reported.

As I already mentioned, YouTube was recently banned in Turkey because the video service published numerous videos that insulted the country's residents. The judge ordered the largest ISP of the country, Turk Telecom, to restrict the access to the video service until the company removes all the incriminatory clips from the page. The first case was reported in Brazil when YouTube was blocked in the country because the service published videos with Ronaldo's ex-wife, Daniela Cicarelli. The Brazilian model sued the search giant for uploading clips without her authorization, the judge closing the product until Google removes all the movies from the page.
