YouTube, the online video sharing service owned by Google, is now attracting bishops after the company agreed to create a new channel especially designed to display church teachings. The design of the page is very similar to the ones created for BBC, NBA and Chelsea FC after the search giant signed important partnerships with them. Using this new channel, YouTube will attract a new category of clients to the page so it is now more important than ever to offer a friendly service.

"The launching was timed for Holy Week, it being the most appropriate time to issue short catechesis on the liturgical significance of the celebrations that have been most misunderstood," said Mgr. Pedro Quitorio III, spokesperson for the Catholic Bishops' Conference of the Philippines and director of its Media Office according to AsiaNews.

This announcement comes just after two weeks since GodTube, a similar service with YouTube that provides almost the same features, published its intentions to challenge the product powered by Google. GodTube has the same goal as the new channel confirmed by YouTube, aiming to attract Christians and present church teachings on the page.

As you can see, the Google strategy is quite interesting as the company tries more and more to attract new categories of users to its well-known products. Although YouTube is powerful enough to boost the number of visitors, Google is now aiming to attract Christians, looking like a desperate attempt to keep the success of the service. In the recent period, YouTube is attacked by numerous other companies that announced their plans to release similar services with a single goal: dethrone YouTube. Take the example of Microsoft and NBC, two companies that are now working on a similar YouTube product able to challenge the service owned by Google.
