The Partner Program broadens its borders

"It's a bargain" I would say if I didn't know better. Earlier this year, YouTube started recognizing the importance its users have had in making it the biggest thing to hit the Internet since Google kicked off its Partner Program. The way it worked was that it enabled some of the most prolific and original content creators within the YouTube community to earn money from their videos, as the team said at the time of the launch.

The revenue came from the ads being run next to the creator's videos that they themselves picked for the job. Not all of it went to the uploaders, of course, I mean after all, YouTube had to make a living and most important, it had to pay off for the amount it was bought for by Google. "Even in this limited release, the program has been an amazing success - already, millions of video views each week are earning revenue for our partners", the YT team wanted to underline.

"But we're just getting warmed up. Today we're announcing that we are expanding the YouTube Partner Program. Now, anyone living in the United States or Canada can apply to become a partner at www.youtube.com/partners. (We're looking forward to rolling out the program to additional international markets soon.)" Well, how about that, they feel like motivating you to make them money. Granted, you are being given a small portion of it, like I said, but you are not the real winner of the deal.

Nevertheless, it is a good way for the little guy to fit a little extra cash to his pockets, and it definitely is a "philanthropic" move from YouTube, to give something back. And let's not forget, who wouldn't want to be a partner with YouTube, the biggest video sharing website there is?
