YouTube is often regarded as a huge community of users that are continuously uploading new videos on the page, contributing to the impressive community hosted by Google. Since the Google acquisition in October 2006 for $1.6 billion, YouTube was attacked by a lot of other companies that were accusing the search giant for publishing videos without authorization. Although Google's video service recorded so many complaints, the company sustained the number of visitors was recently boosted just after Viacom, the owner of MTV and Comedy Central, demanded YouTube to remove almost 100.000 clips from the page.

As I said, the main element that helped YouTube remain the leader of the online video sharing services was surely its impressive community of users that were continuously uploading new clips. That's why the company wants to reward them, creating several ways to show Google's appreciation. The 2006 YouTube User Awards is only one of the ways to reward the service's users but the company announces one more today.

Today, YouTube announced that a member with a huge number of uploaded videos is now an official employee, sustaining the user was continuously updating the product.

"We thought it was time to make Damien official, and this week marks his second as a YouTube employee. He's our "Community Advocate," and before your face morphs into a blank stare, I'll explain: think of Damien as the YouTube Concierge, offering personal service to the most dedicated users (ie, the ones reading this blog!). Damien will continue to produce YourTubeNews (with plans to revamp the vlog to be more "real and personal") and report on the movers and shakers in the YouTube universe," Mia, the YouTube Team sustained on the official blog of the service.
