Flagging system improved

Apparently, Oprah taking over the cyberspace isn't exactly to the liking of one and all, reports mentioning that many of the videos on her channel have been flagged by users. One of the reasons mentioned is that "all the videos she highlights are videos about her", or at least that's waltherchemnitz's reason for doing it.

In an attempt to counter the massive flagging going on right now, the YouTube Team has made some changes to the video flagging options. They say they've:

* "Clarified the top-level category names and added one for spam * Added 17 sub-categories * Added ability to enter additional information for some flags * Some flagging reasons redirect to the appropriate Help Center form"

"These changes are aimed at making it clear to users what should be flagged, and allows users to provide us with more information so that the less obvious violations can become more obvious to us. This will help us be more efficient and consistent, which should hopefully provide a better experience for everyone.", they added.

The fans further required that the so called "trolling" be stopped by the Team and that personal attacks with malicious intent for personal amusement be deemed unacceptable and banned as such, because the YouTube community has grown rather mean spirited. Some have expressed their desire to be given the options to flag entire channels or even other users and while that might sound abusive in many ways it is in fact a solution for the problems the YouTube community is facing right now.

Whatever their future course of actions might be, the team is finally paying attention to those commenting about the flagging system and began doing something to appease their growing need of a decent and humane video archive.
