A long time ago, it was only the main YouTube. Then, there was a YouTube for 10 other countries. A few days ago, YouTube evolved in two new nations. Today, the Google video sharing technology steps into New Zealand. Just like
the other flavors of the product, YouTube New Zealand is supposed to promote the local content and give the users the chance to become famous through their own version of the service. Moreover, the local advertisers can promote their content easier than anytime before and according to Stuff.co.nz, TVNZ, 100% Pure New Zealand and Sky News are among the first ones to do so.
Moreover, Steve Chen, YouTube co-founder, sustains the new version of the service will help authorities promote the culture and the community. "It's great to be able to bring the local users a New Zealand version of the site that will not only provide them with more relevant content, but will also help to reinforce connections and experiences within the local community," he said according to Stuff.co.nz.
At this time, there are no less than 15 flavors of YouTube, including the global one, the video sharing service being available in several countries such as France, Spain, Italy, Brazil, Japan and starting today, New Zealand. All the websites have the same goal: let the local users promote their videos and enhance the advertisers that try to boost their profits.
"It [Australia] is in a way leading the trend for many other countries in terms of how you can actually engage with the platform, which is very, very interesting - we don't see that diverse cross-section of users in many other countries. We have no complete [advertising] plans right now either in Australia or pretty much any other part of the world," YouTube's head of international, Sakina Arsiwala, added for the same source mentioned above.
