You Tube has received a serious amount of appreciation for its PC version. As most computer applications and services are now turning to the unexplored environment of cellulars, You Tube follows the trend and launches a mobile phone version of the site.

Verizon wireless and Vodafone have provided You Tube services until now for their subscribers. It must have proved a success, as it is now going for the big piece of the cake, as it will be launched globally.

Mobile You Tube offers the best of their videos, all ranked by type in several selections. Thus, users can choose from Featured, Recently Added, Most Viewed, Top Rated, Top Favorites, Entertainment and People categories. Still undecided? There's also a Grab Bag selection, which randomly offers access to the latest uploaded videos.

In order to be able to run Mobile You Tube on the personal handset, there is no need for installing any other software. All that it requires is a device which supports streaming video (RTSP/3GP with H263/AMR). Moreover, users can even upload personal videos from their mobile phones just as they would on the computer supported website.

This service only provides streaming video experience for its users. As in the PC-based site, no downloading of the videos is possible, just viewing it on the mobile phone. All that the user has to do in order to experience the Mobile You Tube services is to click on the video's thumbnail graphic. The handset will automatically launch a media player capable of rendering video stream images.

Mobile You Tube is free of any access charge. Still, service providers will tax their subscribers for a large amount of data transfer. With this being the case, a flat rate data plan might just be the best option for Mobile You Tube fans.
