The categories were repaired

After the online video sharing service YouTube received several complaints that the Category Browsing was broken, the company decided to investigate the issues and find out what was wrong. The categories were indeed broken so starting today, you're able to use it just as if nothing had happened because the engineers managed to fix it in no time. OK, not quite fast because it's been a while since YouTube announced the existence of the problems until it managed to fix them.

However, the YouTube team announced today that the online video sharing service works just fine and the category browsing is back in business.

"The browse by category functionality is back up and running. Thanks again for your patience and please accept our apologies for any frustration that this temporary removal caused. We will continue closely monitoring your feedback to ensure that everything went well across the board," the YouTube team said.

Moreover, the parent company also introduced a brand new function that shows valuable information about your own video channel. All you need to do is view your account and YouTube will provide you with details about the videos watched, the channel views and the video views.

"Many of you also requested we put back the total number of video views, which used to display on the homepage. This statistic is now shown on your account page. You'll see the "Video Views" count in the blue rectangular box near the top of the page."

The online video sharing service YouTube was acquired by Google in October 2006 when the Mountain View company paid no less than $1.65 billion. Since the acquisition was announced, the video product was updated several times, becoming one of the most popular websites on the Internet. However, it also caused legal programs as the parent firm was sent to the judge for copyright infringement.
