This is the opt-out feature for those that don’t want to see advertisments

The Amazon Kindle Fire HD tablets were launched a short time ago, but complaints and/or worries regarding them have already appeared.

Although the one about the Android OS has been laid to rest (yes, it's Android 4.0), the one about the adverstisments is still there.

For those who don't know, ads automatically appear when the tablet goes into locked mode. Amazon store promotions are an example of that.

Engadget got an anonymous report from someone who asked Amazon if he/she could opt out of this feature, even though the offers are there to allow Amazon to sell those items at a lower price.

The company said yes, but only at a cost, and there is no way to pay the tax up front. Options for unsubscribing will be announced “soon.”

“I understand that you would like to opt out of the special offer and willing to pay extra for opting out special offer. Options for unsubscribing special offer will be announced soon,” said a member of the Amazon support staff.

“To ensure the utmost attention, I've also passed your message on to the appropriate people in our company. We value customer feedback such as yours as it helps us continue to improve the service and selection we provide.”
