A wise investment

New Enterprise Associates (NEA) granted the Scottish developer Realtime Worlds a funding in the amount of $31 million. As a result of the investment, Patrick Chung and Harry Weller, NEA principal and NEA partner, will join the game development company's board of directors.

The money is to be used for the recruitment of new employees and funding new projects as well as previously announced ones, such as Crackdown on Xbox 360 for Microsoft and All Points Bulletin for Webzen.

Realtime Worlds was founded by the creator of Grand Theft Auto and Lemmings games franchise while working at DMA Design (now Rockstar North), now CEO and creative director David Jones. Other bright names star on the staff such as Tony Harman, former director of development and acquisition at Nintendo America or Ian Hetherington, former managing director of Sony Computer Entertainment Europe and founder of Psygnosis.

Patrick Chung declares that he is honored to have the privilege of working with David Jones and his team as they create revolutionary new games and states his belief that together they will continue to attract, develop and retain extraordinary talents by offering the opportunity to work alongside some of the most inventive minds in electronic entertainment.

Jones assured fans everywhere that they will use this investment to build on the quality of Crackdown and All Points Bulletin and to build new gaming experiences for game consoles, such as Microsoft's Xbox 360 and PC online as well. I guess most of us will have to settle for the PC games until the Xbox gains a little more ground or hope that Realtime Worlds turns their eyes to the desperate gamers that await a sign of divine providence.
