Get in the mood to play a bunch of games again!

You already know the good news about the introduction of the really anticipated (and rumored) PlayStation 3 trophies, Sony's answer to Microsoft's achievements. Yes, they will still be implemented tomorrow and we can consider this great news, right? Well, we have some bad news, too: if you were expecting to get a big load of Trophies as soon as you update your games and the firmware, you'll be a bit disappointed; in order to get them, you'll have to go through the games again! At least, you'll really know if the games you start playing again have a good replay value.

All this information comes via website ps3fanboy.com and, together with it, a short list of the first games that will take advantage of the Trophy stuff: Super Stardust HD, PAIN, Warhawk and PixelJunk Eden. It is said that third party products will also include Trophy support, one of the confirmed titles being the appreciated Bioshock.

Along with the news that the trophies will not be retroactively awarded comes the confirmation of the fact that, unlike Microsoft, Sony allows game developers to choose whether they want to offer these Trophies or not. We'd dare to bet that most will use this new feature, since we all know how much gamers love achievements, level ups and so on (even though some refuse to admit it).

And since we've mentioned levels, this is one of the ways Trophies will help you: by increasing your gamer level. You will get silver, bronze and gold trophies depending on the difficulty of unlocking them and, in theory at least, unlocking a gold trophy in one game should be as difficult as doing so in another. We all know that it won't be like that. Anyway, each of these Trophies adds a certain value to your level and it will definitely be one of the facts to prove how much of a hardcore PS3 gamer you are.
