It sounds like Satan and God on a night out in the city, having red wine an dancing to a true romance: Creative has released a docking station built especially for iPods! I still can't really believe my ears and eyes when thinking about this: it is like Microsoft would give up the Windows Media Player or like RIAA stopped sucking so much. (As a matter of fact, I guess I'd rather live to see Apple team up with MS than RIAA stopping the suck-process.)

One thing is sure and I'd say Creative could brag about it: the device looks great! The Creative PlayDock i500 has some of
the smoothest lines I have seen in quite some time and I'd even go that far as to say that the overall design of the dock outruns the design of any iPod (except the small Shuffle's which I tend to like, somehow).

Black grille cloth covering the speakers and almost the entire front side and white back and sides make quite a difference when the iPod's in the dock: Apple should thank Creative for releasing such a nice piece of gear which makes iPods look even more beautiful! Twin speakers and a back opening for bass reflex, with bass level control as well, all sorts of connecting jacks and an overall very stylish look combined with easy operation and Creative's traditional quality sound and manufacturing are most likely to make the PlayDock i500 a bestseller.

The release comes in almost funny after Apple handed over to Creative some really good money ($100,000,000, yep, one hundred million) to settle some "sue-issue". Even if Apple demands a mind-blowing 10% from the PlayDock i500 sales, I guess Creative aren't that stupid as to give them that. And if they are, this means that PlayDock i500 will have a higher price. Which would suck, obviously!

The 2.1 system will blast somewhere around 24W in a frequency range between 62Hz and 20kHz pumped at 80dB and weighs around 2.4 kg. Small, compact and overall, a serious music box.

Anyway, the iPod docking station-lovers can cheer and make merry for one of the coolest docks has hit the market (in Japan only, so far) and it's likely to take over! The price is not known yet but it simply can't be too high. It's not Bang & Olufsen, after all!
