Disney's Hollywood Studios will use a 3D scan of your face

Disney holds the Star Wars Weekends festival every year, as a way to celebrate the anniversary of the franchise, at Disney's Hollywood Studios theme park of the Walt Disney World Resort. The D-tech Me service will be up and live this year.

There, visitors will be able to get their face 3D scanned. The scans will be turned into small, plastic replicas of them in stormtrooper or rebel X-Wing pilot outfits.

Well, that was last year anyway. This year, you can also choose Carbon-Freeze Me, an Alderaan Princess, and Carbon-Freeze Me for kids.

It's a way for fans to become part of the universe they are so fond of, even if they'll be unconscious (well, Carbon Frozen).

Previously, the figurines all came in 7-inch height (177 mm), but now they should also be available in 16 inches (406 mm).

Disney says that it will be using "the world's highest-resolution, single-shot 3D face scanner," but that doesn't really tell me as much as I would like.

You'll have to pay though. $100 / €72 for the 7-inch figurine, $1,500 / €1,081 for the 16-inch one. And you won't get it right away. After you spend 10 minutes being scanned, Disney will make the figurine and ship it in about 7-8 weeks.
