Really, NVIDIA and ASUS made an app called Splashtop THD

You'd think that the Eee Pad Transformer Prime was all out of tricks by now, but that does not seem to be the case, as the slate has proven it can play The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.

Granted, that is a somewhat misleading choice of words, since the game is never actually run by the tablet's own hardware.

As reported by NetbookNews, there is now an app that enables the latest in Bethesda's game series to be wirelessly streamed to the slate.

Said app is known as Splashtop THD and is meant to enable streaming of content from a PC to the tablet, wirelessly or through an Ethernet cable.

Owners will need three things to make Skyrim work through Splashtop THD.

One is, obviously, a high-end tablet based on the NVIDIA Tegra 3 SoC. That means just the Transformer Prime, for now.

The second thing is a high-end personal computer equipped with an NVIDIA graphics processing unit.

Thirdly, the network connection needs to be very fast and stable, otherwise there will be nerve-wracking lag to deal with.

Once all elements are in place, Splashtop can start packetizing the video and deliver it to the Transformer Prime's screen.

The video quality loss is minimal and it is easy to connect an XBOX remote, or other game controllers, to the Prime.

Naturally, there won't be much point in going through all this trouble for those who don't have any problem just sitting in front of their PC and playing all night long.

Still, there are bound to be people who will jump at the opportunity to just sit back on their couch or in their bed while playing the game, regardless of where the actual computer happens to be in the house.

Splashtop should be available for download via the same channels that tablet owners used for all their other little programs.
