Do you have a BMW sitting in your garage and a fancy Samsung Gear S on your wrist? Good news then, as from now on you’ll be able to use the two in concert thanks to the updated BMW i Remote App.

The application will allow users to remotely control their vehicle from the comfort of their own smartwatch which, let’s face it, is pretty cool and will impress a lot of folks.

And the efforts BMW has put into designing the application have been recognized by the Consumer Electronic Show association, which usually organizes a major event during the first month of the year that takes place in Las Vegas (as seen at autoevolution).

The criteria for which the application was judged includes functionality, aesthetic appeal, the levels of user-friendliness in the interface and innovation.

The Samsung Gear S is an atypical smartwatch that can be used in concert with a smartphone or as a standalone device. In the case of the BMW app, users will have to utilize a smartphone companion to perform certain remote-operations.

For example, you’ll be able to check the electric range available, battery charge level and even the estimated charge time remaining.

On top of that, you can even inspect to see whether the doors of the vehicle are locked and the windows closed, turn on the AC to cool down or pre-heat the interior.
