Soon, the first Windows Phones manufactured by Nokia will make an appearance on shelves, and they should be released on the market in the United States as well in the not-too-distant future.

The one issue that Nokia seems to have is with the names that its devices will sport when made available stateside.

Other mobile phone makers already have popular devices available on shelves in the US, and users often associate the company with the name of the handset, while Nokia does not.

However, the company seems set to change that, and is calling for users to help it decide on the name they would like the company's new Windows Phones to sport.

The company has just put up a poll where users can vote for one of the over 30 names that Nokia's Windows Phones might sport when made available for purchase in the United States.

The list of name suggestions includes Accent, Share, Redux, Challenger, Xphone, Core, Ecstatic, Voyager, Metro, Elite, Story, Force, Mix, Pure, Live, Evolution, Strike, Revo, Gen, Next, EZ, Aspire, Conduit, and Atlantis.

Moreover, names like Skylight, Sync, Fearless, Prime, Jedi, Apex, Halo, Apollo, Eternity, Rise, Genesis, Spawn, Fusion, Revolution, Amaze, Vision, Destiny, Alpha, Xtreme, Deckard, Omega, and Phoenix are present on the list as well.

One thing that is certain is that the numbering scheme that Nokia announced it would adopt for its smartphones might not fit the bill.

Names that would remain in people's hearts is one of the things that Nokia needs to make a splash on the United States market, especially since its latest Symbian devices have performed poorly in the country.

Some suggested that Nokia might launch Windows Phones in the US only sometime in March next year, and the fact that they haven't yet decided what names to adopt for them might be seen as an indicator that this rumor would pan out.

For the time being, however, we should expect for Nokia's first Windows Phones to be officially introduced before the end of the ongoing year. Specific info on their availability will emerge at that time as well. (via)
