14 DAY TRIAL // If you're on the market for the perfect present for your slightly-twisted loved one, look no further than the life-size, anatomically correct chocolate skulls a company dubbed BlackChocolateCo is now selling on Etsy.
The United Kingdom-based company says that the skulls are all handmade and that their anatomy is based on an actual, genuine human skull that served as a model.
As if eating chocolate shaped like a human head were not freaky enough, these chocolate skulls are also covered in a thin layer of cocoa, which makes them look as if they have just been dug up.
According to Huffington Post, one such chocolate skull weighs about 1.5 kilograms (approximately 3.3 pounds). Otherwise put, there will be plenty of sweet horror to go around. Then again, one can always choose not to share.
The skulls sell for roughly $120 (about €88) each, and BlackChocolateCo says that, if stored in proper conditions, i.e. in a cool and dry environment, they can last for up to six months.
Still, since it is chocolate we are talking about, it's unlikely any of these skulls will ever live to reach their expiration date.
Commenting on their decision to start making and selling these terrifying but strangely appealing treats, the folks behind BlackChocolateCo said, “My partner and I have a great passion for chocolate, and we are very passionate about art as well.”
“We thought – ‘why not combine the two?’ And that is when BlackChocolate was born.”
