In tune with last
month's prediction concerning the launch date of the GeForce GT 240 graphics cards, quite a few hardware manufacturers, including
MSI,
Galaxy and
Inno3D, showcased their own models of the NVIDIA-based video adapters. Bent on matching and even outdoing this competition, Leadtek, in turn, came out earlier and showed its own video boards, namely the Winfast GT 240 SDDR3 1GB, GT 240 GDDR3 512MB and GT 240 GDDR5 512MB.
These three cards are similar to the products showed by the aforementioned rivals, which also revealed three cards each, basically the same ones with largely similar specifications. Leadtek's cards also run on 96 different processing cores and a 40nm GPU clocked at 550 MHz. The products use a 128-bit memory interface and the shader frequency is equal to 1340MHz.
The main differing feature between the three adapters is the VRAM frequency. The SDDR3 model runs at 1580MHz, the GDDR3 at 2000MHz and the more capable GDDR5 model has a VRAM clock speed of no less than 3600MHz. Naturally, the adapters were designed with full compatibility with Windows 7 and are perfectly capable of allowing the full enjoyment of the operating system's wide array of features. Gamers most of all will have to gain from purchasing a GT 240, as the turbo high clock speed of up to 550MHz will successfully keep up with the demands of even the most advanced games currently on the market.
The adapters use an ultra-long life and ultra-quiet cooling system, whereas aluminum capacitors are highly resistant to even high temperatures, allowing for overclocking possibilities when desired. All cards use the NVIDIA CUDA and NVIDIA PhysX technology for maximum HD enjoyment. The DirectX 10.1 support is obviously included, as are OpenGL 3.1 and Shader Model 4.1. Not only that, but the HDMI connector and the 7.1 LPCM audio through the PCI-Express interface give way to the enjoyment of high-definition digital multimedia presentations without extra SPDIF support.
The prices are expected to range between 90 and 110 Euro.
