This case will make one-hand usage a breeze

Apple has been subjected to plenty of ridicule after unveiling the iPhone 6 Plus with its large 5.5-inch display back in October 2014.

The iPhone 6 Plus inspired a great deal of memes, most of which dealt with the prediction that future iPhones would be made incredibly huge, and they do hold a grain of truth at their core.

Those of you who have handled the iPhone 6 Plus know that it’s pretty complicated to hold and use the phone with one hand, especially if you have smaller hands.

But the genius of technology translates into being able to make some things possible even if initially they are deemed unattainable.

Here comes a case that makes one-hand usage for big phones a snap

Inventor Kyle Staebell took to Kickstarter to fund what he calls the “Greatest Case,” an accessory designed to give owners of the iPhone 6 Plus (or any other large phone for that matter, including the Galaxy Note 4) the ability to use their mega phone one-handed.

The whole idea came to Staebell while he was playing with a giant-screen phone and found he wasn’t able to reach over the whole screen with one thumb. Eventually, he found the solution of shifting his grip to touch other parts of the screen, but he soon got tired of this tactic.

So, he set a goal for himself: to find ways of enabling the thumb to reach further. That’s how he came up with the design for the “Greatest Case.”

The idea behind the accessory is pretty simple. Once a grip is provided on the back of the phone, the user’s thumb is offered more freedom to stretch further on the screen.

The case’s outline follows the contours of the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and iPhone 6 Plus thanks to struts that run around the back of the phone, which provide the much needed grip.

The cases are 3D printed and are available in two variations: one in black plastic and one in copper (actually a blend of copper and plastic).

On top of allowing you to use the phone with one hand, whether you’re a leftie or a righty, the Greatest Case also provides protection in case you accidentally drop your phone to the ground.

If you’re interested in the idea, you can go ahead and make a pledge for the case on Kickstarter. The black version will cost you $29 / €26, while the copper one will be offered for $39 / €35.
