Windows Phone 7, the new mobile operating system version Redmond-based software giant Microsoft has brought to the market last month, has a new application available for it, coming from Yelp.

The mobile platform currently enjoys a little over 2,000 mobile applications available for download via the Windows Phone Marketplace, but the number should increase pretty soon.

The said Yelp app is just another new software solution released for the Windows Phone 7 OS, which adds to the list of mobile applications the company already released into the wild.

Since the mobile space has registered impressive growth lately, the company decided to offer more options to its increasing number of users.

“It’s no secret that mobile has been a huge focus for us this year. With over 2.6 million users in the past month, we’ve been developing like crazy on our iPhone and Android applications, and working hard to bring goodies to our other platforms,” the company notes.

“Couple that with our focus on rolling out Yelp in new countries and today you have an app made in heaven: the 6th member of the Yelp Mobile family, Windows Phone 7,” Yelp's Director of Consumer & Mobile Products notes in a post on the company's blog.

According to the company, the new application was released for all yelpers out there, including those living in Europe, as well as those in the United States.

Yelp 1.0 for Windows Phone 7 comes with some appealing features, including:

- Use location aware technology to find pubs, restaurants, shopping, etc. nearby - Read reviews for a business, browse photos, map its location and get directions

As one would expect, the new mobile application was made available for download via the Windows Phone Marketplace.

According to the company, we should expect for a wide range of other enhancements and features to be added to the Windows Phone 7 application in future releases.
